Fluid Rigidity is an experimental exploration into making an elaborate chair that holds itself together without any fasteners, special joints or adhesives. Just good old friction.

The design was inspired by the contradicting but complimentary forms of Islamic art - the fluidity of Arabic calligraphy and the rigidity of repetitve geometries. I envisioned it as an interactive sculpture that can be used as a seat in art galleries.
