When are we going to collectively start taking climate change seriously? When? Does something irreversibly catastrophic have to happen for us to finally wake up? We are proverbially watching Nazi Germany arm itself and doing nothing because it can't be that serious. We're watching them invade Austria and dismantle Czechoslovakia and still we don't feel like it's that serious. Does the climate have to metaphorically invade Poland or annihilate France for us to finally wake the fuck up?!
Greenland is melting, sea levels are rising, every year is becoming the hottest recorded and scientists the world over categorically agree that we are to blame but no, let's keep voting in populist assholes with the IQ of bottled air that encourage the burning of the Amazon. Without environmental protection, there will not be sustainable economic growth. How can we be so short sighted, so selfish, so criminal?
"It's such a big issue, how can I do anything about it?!" Enough with the bullshit. Stop eating meat everyday which encourages the deforestation of places like the Amazon; we’re almost literally suffocating from cow shit - it's neither cool nor masculine nor needed you ignorant clusterdick; stop consuming things you don't need like that branded shirt or that new smart phone model every year as if it's going to help you magically develop a personality; cycle or walk or take public transport or carpool rather than drive your car everywhere. Small changes multiplied make a big difference. Buy local, seasonal produce rather than import your fucking blueberries and avocadoes from half way across the world.
"But most climate change is caused by a handful of companies" THEN FIND WAYS TO AVOID BUYING FROM THEM (hint: they're almost all fossil fuel companies). If you care enough, then you need to drastically change your lifestyle.
I'm tired, so tired of hearing pissants deny man made climate change like it's going to cause them autism. Grow up. The world is literally burning and all we care about is who is dating who and who has the latest what and who is making how much. News flash, if the environment becomes a living hell hole, no one is going to give a fuck about the prissy shoes you had made by Cambodian slaves and then delivered to your doorstep from across the world just because it has an L and a V printed on the sole.
Rather than being passive consumers of the problem, we need to all become active solvers of climate change by buying more consciously, or protesting or raising awareness or finding solutions within your job or industry to do your bit for the only home we have.
I'm tired of hearing people and some men in particular brush off climate change like accepting it or being serious about it will invert their tiny penises into vaginas. It's time for all of us to make change and to demand change because the only world I want to live in isn't one where we have to start afresh on an inhospitable planet like the idea is the coolest thing ever. Let's send the Trumps and Bolsonaros of the world to Mars and have them figure it out without scientists.
We have one beautiful green and blue planet right now and we need to learn to live in it respectfully and humbly like the simple apes we are.
